I agree with Steve. It was Michael McDonald's "If That's What it Takes" which was released in 1982.
 
Can you name performers who appeared on this LP that at one time or another played with the Doobie Brothers?

I guessed the same thing except McDonalds came out in '82. I named it I Gotta Try but I hear it is If That's What It Takes.

I believe that TJ's 1st LP was released in 1979 and was titled "Everything
You've Heard is True" then he released his second in 1981 titled "Still
Feels Good". Then Pat released his in 1983 titled "Arcade".
