I'm a Noobie as you like to call it. I have actually
been on for a few weeks, but have kinda been sitting back taking it all
in. I have to admit, I was getting quite disappointed for a while
there. But the past few days have been great. More like what I would
have expected. Concert news, tidbits about shows, albums, the various
members of the band, etc. That's what it should be all about! Keep
those kinds of things coming!
I have to admit, I've only seen two shows, and both have been
within the last 4-5 years!! But both were still quite good! My best
experience was in Vegas. We got seats right up at the stage, 4 seats
in! That was awesome!!! We could have reached up and shook hands if
we had chosen. (If only we had taken a couple of album covers with
us!!!) The sound was fantastic!
But I'm really looking forward to this summer when the Doobies
come to good ol' St. Joseph, Michigan!!!!! I work that festival every year
driving the entertainers and hope to get the opportunity to maybe meet some of
the Doobies!!! If anyone has the urge to venture to Michigan, this would
be the Venetian Festival held on the shores of the great Lake Michigan.
Quite a picturesque setting and usually an awesome crowd. This is a 4-day,
3-night festival starting on a Thursday night and running till Sunday
night. (I'll have to look up the dates, but is in mid July!!!) This
is a pretty small community kinda stuck between lots of bigger cities, such as
about 50 miles from Kalamazoo, 30 miles from South Bend, Indiana, 3 hours from
Detroit, 1 hour from Chicago, etc. etc. But we have managed to have some
pretty good bands come in for this in the past. Last year we had Peter
Frampton, Screaming Cheetah Wheelies, and Pat Benatar. Past bands have
included Grand Funk Railroad, Kansas, REO Speedwagon, and so many more I can't
even think of at the moment! This festival also features country acts
(yuck), older 60's rock acts, and jazz, religious, etc. Needless to say,
it is the biggest event of the year around here!!! And this year -
we get the DOOBIES!!!!!!!! :) :) (I have been pushing
for this for a few years!)
