Hey everyone!

I'm sorry that this is non-Doobie related but can anyone help me with a
major problem I have?

As most of you know I live in London, England. Well, being a keen bass
guitarist and memorabilia collector I often keep an eye on the auction site
eBay for any bargain 'Spector' basses (my weapon of choice!). Back at the
start of February I bid on and won a white Spector NS4 bass from a guy in
Toms River, NJ. Well, I sent him the money ($941 !!) immediately by American
Express $ Money Order and instructed him to send the bass to a friend of
mine in California.

Well, now, after three and a half months of him saying he was about to send
it, had sent it, thought it had gone a few days earlier, not replying to my
questions, leaving his answering machine on etc, etc I STILL haven't got the
bass and both my friend and I are POSITIVE I have been ripped off. With me
being on the other side of the pond I guess the guy figured he could get
away with it..... and to some extent I guess he was right. I'm in no
position to knock on his door or try and report him for fraud.

This is where, I hope, someone on the list can help me.... I can't afford to
lose $940 (650) and wanted that bass real bad. Does anyone live nearby,
have contacts who can help, have any suggestions or is willing to drop by
the guy's "band instrument rental" company to pick it up on my behalf (I'm
sure he has the bass)?

If anyone can help I would be eternally grateful and I would definitely buy
the beers in Saratoga!

Thanks for listening,

Gary (the ripped off and feeling helpless Limey Doobie!)
