Hey gang: I've been incommunicato for a while with some ISP problems, but am getting caught up on half a week's worth of e-mails this afternoon. Just thought I'd share a couple great Doobie hits from the week. 1. Our distinguished wrestler-turned-governor has become buddy-buddy with President Clinton regarding opening up trade with China. In fact, he left the state in the final days of the legislative session to go out to D.C. for a big meeting on the matter, leading to some local disgruntlement. Anyway, it led one of the morning radio jocks to put together the concept that Jesse Ventura will be touring with the Doobie Brothers this year to sing "OOOOO oh China trade." 2. While browsing through the record section at Barnes and Noble, I stumbled across a solo album by Cornelius Bumpus. Of course I had to pick it up. It's a departure from the typcial Doobies/Steely Dan works he's been a part of in the past. It's more cool jazz and smooth blues. But he does to a cover of "Takin' It To the Streets" and also Steely Dan's "Chain Lightning." There's also a pretty groovy cover of "I'll Take You There." My guess would be to look for the CD in the jazz section. I only came across it because it was on one of those listening post locations where you can actually preview the music on headphones before you buy it. --Thor ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com _________________________ To unsubscribe from this list, send a message to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with "unsubscribe doobiefans-list" in the body.
