Upon returning from our travels to Las Vegas, I decided to write about the concert 
before too many details were lost. (I'm not as good at retaining flashbacks as I was 
in the 70's!) The Orleans Theatre was about the size of my highschool auditorium. 
Small and intimate.  Seated on the 2nd row amongst some of the finest people on the 
planet, Mr. Gina and I were treated to 1 1/2 hours of unrelenting Rock-n-Roll ala 
Doobies.  The music was deliberate,intentional, crystal clear and could be felt to the 
very core of my being. We held our urge to dance as Tommy Johnston touched our souls 
singin the blues. During one of my favorite Pat Simmons songs on the last night, I 
found myself holding back tears.. tears for the memories, tears of joy that my Doobies 
had not only survived all these years but had emerged in better musical form than 
ever! After the 1st night's concert, an angelic being with long cascading blond hair, 
grabbed my hand. Her hand was smooth, but cold. "C'mon let's go" !
she said softly. The etherial Cris Simmons seemed to only lack gossimer wings.  She 
led me down a long black corridor back stage. There was a light at the end of it and 
standing at the end was...The Master of Soothe, Pat Simmons.  "so, this is what it's 
like to die," I thought. We exchanged a handshake, and a very trivial,"nice to meet 
you," and then we took a picture.
I am now 6 months away from the big 4-0: a good place to close the book on a story 
that has been running for 25 years.  The Vegas concert experience was a 
Once-in-a-Lifetime dream come true.  But the Doobies aren't finished!!  Catch them 
when they rock down the highway near you!!!
