Here's a rundown on the Doobies appearance for those who are out of the
listening area or missed it:
Tom and Keith appeared...
Bob Buchmann said the Doobies were long-time friends of Q104...
Bob's co-host Tracy said one of her favorite songs was Echoes of Love and
asked if they would play it at the Beacon. Keith mentioned that they did
play it regularly for a while, but not over the last three or four years...
Tickets were given away to the Doobies' show at the Beacon Theater on 10/21.
These go on sale today at 9AM...
Bob referred to Keith and Tom as "founding members"....
Bob asked them what was going on and Tom replied they've been active...
Songs played were Black Water, Long Train Runnin', People Gotta Love Again
(which had a different lead guitar from the imix.com Millennium CD), Listen
to the Music, Rockin' Down the Highway, China Grove...
When asked, Keith talked about Jimi Hendrix's influence and how he would go
to a record store to listen to the vinyl LPs in a booth there...
Bob told a story about how DJS were somewhere having dinner just after
Brotherhood was released and some of the Doobies walked on stage
unexpectedly and played. He asked Tom and Keith if they remembered and they
said no (pretty funny)...
Asked about Michael McDonald they replied that he plays about 10 -12 dates
with the Doobies each year...
They started talking about football and Keith said he likes the Raiders, but
they lost last night to Denver. Then Tom and he joked that Keith actually
likes any team that plays against Denver. Keith mentioned that his drum
tech was a big Denver fan and he knew that both the Jets and Giants were
3-0. Tom said he liked the 49ers...
A caller said he was coincidentally listening to a Lee Michaels' live CD and
mentioned that Keith was the drummer...
Bob said the switchboard was lighting up with calls!!!
Tom and Keith thanked Bob for continuing to play their music and mentioned
the fans...
