Title: RE: Who are the fan club members?

I can't believe it. The December 6, 1974 ( to be precise) concert at ECU in Greenville (Minges Coliseum) was my first Doobie experience too. Since then, I went just about every time they came to Eastern NC or Tidewater Virginia.

A couple more bits. I am now on my last wife and have two daughters, clearly more beautiful than any other, aged 2 and 6 (yes I started late). I have worked for a number of pro and semi-pro bands, Styx, Jimmy Buffet, Firefall, Bill Lyerly, and other regional acts as roadie, sound cat, guitar tech, or sound system designer. I never realised my fondest professional dream, to work for the Doobie Brothers. Years later, I am now a Project Manager for a huge telecom company. Given that experience, maybe I should get the numbers on putting on a concert? I really enjoy a lot of varied music, the above included plus some mild metal like Rush, Korn, Metallica, definitely Steely Dan, even some of the Big Hair stuff like RATT. Warren DiMartini can wail even if his hair looked silly! Southern Boogie still figures heavily with Blackfoot, LS, Outlaws, and such holding special places in the CD rack. I also listen to some old blues, got some real old wax, as well as doo-wop. It goes without saying, although I will, that the Brothers are the tops though. Through all my listening, jamming, gigs, friends, and acquaintances, the Doobies have always impressed me, soothed me, kept me company when I was busted up, made me want to jump, and always play in my head when I'm riding my scoot.

I gotta tell y'all this one story. I had just cut another break tape, what the sound cat plays between sets, and tried it out during sound check. Charlie Collins, a talented and versatile guitar player I was working for, heard the tape and stopped cold. He started listening, tappin, picked up his strat and started pickin. After the song went off he said, "Damn. Now that was hotter than a Peace College senior at Spring Break (a local girls college with a bit of a rep. I guess you had to know that).

The song was Steamer Lane Breakdown.

Cheers. I got a million of 'em.
