As I watched the news unfold concerning the recent events in California, I could not
help but think about the people on the list who are in the educational system. I
don't remember who posted the statement about being a teacher in a messed up
educational system, but I think most people with half a brain realize the problems in
the system are not you, but as with most business, (it's a shame that education is run
like a business) is mismanagement. Mismanagement of funds, resources, manpower, etc.
Every teacher I have ever met got involved in the field to try and make a difference.
It sure wasn't the money. I might not have agreed with one or two of my kids teachers
in certain things or the way something was taught, but at least after talking to these
people I always got the feeling that they cared, and were trying to make a difference.
What other field do you find this ?? People worry about oil, gas, the nations
resources, electricity, but what about our most important re!
sources, our children. I believe teachers are the backbone of our nation, they handle
our most precious possessions day in and day out, and most of us, me included don't
even really know who these people are. Would you let someone you don't really know
that well jump on your Harley and take it for a ride?? Hell no. But we will stand
there and watch our son or daughter get on a school bus and go to school and spend
all day with someone that we don't really know either. What I'm trying to say is, we
should get to really know our teachers and support them as much as possible. I
think parents expect way to much from the system. Who says that learning is only
supposed to be at school? What happened to the parents teaching at home as well??
Some people think our schools are just day care centers, and that teachers are
overpaid babysitters. The system won't change until we change it. I'm really getting
off track here, but what I'm trying to say is, the problem is not y!
ou as a teacher, the problem lies in the system. We appreciate th
appreciate the fact that you do care and are trying to make a difference. Thanks
Teachers,
Teachers Rock !!!!!!
P.S. Teachers, if I have any misspelled words, it's just cause I was typing really
fast!
