Dear You,

You are reading the first lines of the highly infrequent UNSWORN newsletter, either because we know you want to or because we think you should.

Since this is the first UNSWORN Update in eleven years we have loads and lots to tell you. Don't worry though, with the current publication rate your inbox will not get clogged until the next ice age. If you still don't want Updates in the future, send us a mail and we will leave you alone for another decade or so.

FOUR OPHONES NEW YORK TOUR 2006
After two years of conquering world metropolises such as Tokyo, Paris and Brösarp our favourite interactive sound installation finally had its North American breakthrough in a series of, sonically as well as logistically, challenging events ranging from squirrel-scaring Open Ophones in Central Park to the crowning of this year's American Ophoniste Idol at MonkeyTown in Williamsburg, where Lukamaki (aka Bob Lukomski) won the jury's hearts in ear-busting competion with Amy Granat & Anthony Ptak, La Livia, Bora Yoon, SUIT, Soupy, Adam Matta, Mike Skinner, and Montgomery Knott:

COLOMBIAN PARTY LABORATORIES
In Medellín you can buy electric shocks in the street. Dirt cheap. Erik reflects on art, clubbing and party-evangelism after being one of resident gringos at the Bogotrax and Pixelazo festivals in Locolombia a month ago:

POPHORN SNEAK PEAKS
When in Bogotá UNSWORN also announced their latest endeavour. Pophorns are a series of small sound applications that transform your mobile phone into a music-making machine. The first one - the Ophonine Pophorn - records and replays loops with the press of a button. Musicians, strollers, toddlers, and stray cats jammed with the Pophorns in selected Colombian squares and museums:

FRESH EYES AND DIRTY HANDS
2006 was not only the year of the dog and the year of You, but also the year of the Workshop which UNSWORN Educators honoured by teaching among other things Physical Computing, Fashion+Technology, and Inner City Ballets. Not to mention Sounds, Cameras, and Interactions with Åsa Ståhl in Medellín. Now, in the year of the pig we celebrate all these Experiential Interventionist Probotypings with a re-pimped archive of our past didactic deeds:

VJ BATTLES
A year ago Erik teamed up with Laika-Andreas to form the VJ-duo TV-OUT and has since then appeared on projection screens in Malmö, Stockholm, Bogotá and Helsinki, mixing modest home movies to the lard-ass beat of packed dancefloors. On May 4 TV-OUT will battle Magnus' and Livias' Tallponies at the first Swim Fast Club in Debaser Malmö. Det finns ett disco i varje stövel!

WHO WON THE GRAND PRIX?
The glittering finale of the Pan-European auditory joust, Ophoniste Grand Prix, organized by UNSWORN and Ars Electronica Festival in Linz, saw Bror Stalin claim the prize with his flagellant performance "The Weight of the Stalin Dynasty". Better luck next year to Kaarina and the Fishfingers, Berliner Mitte Boy, the Incredible Krakl Pearls and the rest of the European ophonating elites.

DOT ORG CARGO-CULTING
After the Second World War anthropologists noted that the dances and rituals of the local inhabitants of the small pacific islands, where Americans had established military bases during the war, had changed radically. Using homemade, wooden props crafted to look like radio headsets and air control towers, the locals mimicked the behaviours of the air traffic controllers hoping again to have valuables parachuting from above. However, no matter how hard they tried no more cargo was dropped. For the Mal au Pixel Festival in Paris in March 2006 UNSWORN tried to curate a world-wide, open-source car-building initiative:

Forget Web 2.0! At www.unsworn.org you get a thoroughly non-participatory, yet massively orthogonal browsing experience:
