Colombia is the only place in the Western hemisphere where landmines
are planted on a regular basis. Along with Cambodia and Afghanistan,
it is one of the three countries in the world with the worst landmine
problem.
Non-state armed actors use landmines indiscriminately. Civilians
encounter the weapons while walking on roads, near schools, and in
pastures where farmers work and children play.
These stories trace the stages of reintegration of some of the
civilian survivors. Many find that their accident is only the
beginning of their hardship - they must also withstand displacement,
inadequate assistance, and a new life as a disabled person.........................................................................
