Hi Folks,
I am currently working at a start-up that does not exactly have an I.T.
or CAE person on board...yet, so that leaves me to fill in that role! :-(
Aside from being loaded with a lot of engineering design tasks, I have
a limited amount of system admin experience, but I am totally willing to
learn! However, to save time and headaches, I would like to see if anyone
out there is open to consulting with us, this is a paid position, or can
tell us where and how to find a consultant that can help us with the
following I.T. needs:
1) LINUX SERVER: Setup the server version of the CentOS operating system
on a high-end system with the option to dual boot to Windows 7 in order to
run Windows only engineering tools as an emergency back-up when performance
is needed.
2) SAMBA FILE SERVER: Setup a Samba file server on the same system such
that we can access the Linux volumes on our desktop PCs.
3) LICENSE SERVER: Setup a FLEXLM license server to help better manage
our limited engineering license tools, (NOTE: This would be a nice to have,
but is not critical)
4) REMOTE ACCESS: Setup a VPN connection to the server so that it can be
accessed remotely.
5) APACHE SERVER: Setup an Apache server so that we can have programs
run on the server and manage: code databases (GIT) and bug tracking
information (Bugzilla/Mantis), along with setting up internal web/wiki
pages.
