I want to use a consumer-level timer in an arrangement where the power
supplied to the load can also come via another path, i.e., a manual
switch. This means that when the timer is "off" it is possible that
the output of the timer will be powered. Assuming that I do nothing
stupid and keep proper track of the neutral and "hot" lines, is there
a problem with this? I assume that if the timer uses a mechanical
relay on its output, there would be no problem. But if it uses a
solid state relay, can there be a problem?

Thanks,

-Denis
