Running Ubuntu 12.04, I installed the Arduino IDE (using the Software Center). The examples,hardware,lib,libraries,reference, and tools folders get placed in /usr/share/arduino The IDE expects sketches to be in home/sketchbook. The preferences.txt file has no entries for the library location; only the sketchbook location. Yet it seems to me that #include <some library name> generates an error indicating the library cannot be found.
