On a car I rented not to long ago, a recent-year Chevy Corvette...
when the drive walked away with the keys (say to go pay for gas in a
gas station store), the passenger reported being trapped in the car.
Electric windows, electric doors (which to open required the electric
window to roll down about a centimeter). Perfect car for trapping an
angry girl-friend and coming back to a broken window.

This is also a point that usually comes up when I watch movies where a
car plunges into a river...

Another somewhat related point is EMP-proof vehicles. Seems a nuclear
steam car would be the perfect solution... but from what I hear about
commercial nuclear energy generation, they take a while to ramp up or
down (which is why they use coal for peak loads, I believe)... so this
idea might have the same long-startup time that the Stanley Steamer
had. I guess all the carburetor folks are winning from that
perspective currently.
