At the last Dorkbot meetup at Ctrl-h I was chatting with a couple people about my wifi controlled watering system. I'm sorry, but I totally forgot your names. Anyway, I said that I'd post when I got the software working.
All of the code and docs are here: https://github.com/berkley/spark The schematic and a photo of the breadboarded system is here: https://github.com/berkley/spark/tree/master/firmware The system works off of a single Particle (formerly Spark) Core and uses TIP-120 transistors to control 12V solenoid valves. It has a node.js service and web front end to allow you to control the system from any browser. The web UI is pretty lame at this point, but I'm adding more to it to control timing of different valves. I'll hopefully be done with that this week.
