Give the kernel boot option
ide_core.noprobe=I.D
a try. The I is the interface number, zero-based, the D the device
number, 0 or 1. Change to suit. See
http://lxr.linux.no/#linux+v2.6.33/Documentation/ide/ide.txt for
(little) more and
http://lxr.linux.no/#linux+v2.6.33/drivers/ide/ide.c#L181 which parses
it. (Does that code allow negative numbers?)
Whether this gets in early enough to stop the hang, I don't know.
Cheers,
Ralph.
