"Me too", mainly. I do still purchase tech books sometimes (or get a
review copy from HantsLug and write a review ... <plug> ;-) but have
not bought any of the mainstream mags for quite a while. I attribute
this to: (a) a certain feeling of them 'dumbing down' ... I guess this
should not be seen as a totally Bad Thing as it indicates the user
base is widening; (b) generally finding that there was less in the
magazines' content that seemed relevant to my interests. I found that
I just didn't really want to do many of the things they were talking
about.
Also, the presence of a cover disk became irrelevant with the advent
of decent broadband.
