I wonder if it could be like my situation here at home. I have a 3Com wireless router, and when I switch off the wired LAN computer, the wireless drops it's connection. If the XP wired box is not switched on in the morning, I find it very difficult to get the linux wireless box to connect to anything outside of the router. i.e. the wireless works, and I can get to the router, but can't get out.
