Hi,
Any up-to-the-minute KDE afficiandos out there? I just upgraded my main
machine to Kubuntu 11.04 and found that all my carefully crafted desktops
(that I've developed over the last 5 years or so), no longer exist.
I've used KDE 4.6 before, but in earlier versions of Kubuntu. Previously the
Activities only became 'active' by some act of commission, whereas in KDE
Version 4.6.2 they seem to be there by default. As far as I can see,
Activities do much the same as my old configured desktops, but in a (to me)
much less logical way.
I used to have 6 desktops, with different wallpapers and widgets on each.
That was sufficient for me to easily switch between the various things that I
did and have the tools to hand when I got there.
I still have 6 desktops, but all my widgets have gone and they practically all
have the same wallpaper. The odd thing is that two have the old wallpapers,
but not necessarily on the right desktops. If I try to configure activities,
I invariably end up with an all white screen or an all black one and I have to
reboot to get out of it.
So some questions:
1 Can anyone point me to a sensible tutorial that doesn't assume that you are
starting with a blank canvas and does a decent job of explaining the logic?
2. How the **** do I switch between activities, if I don't have the Activity
switcher enabled on the Activity in question? This seems fundamental. It
would appear that the only way to do it is to have this (it doesn't appear by
default) or go into the config bar. BTW, I did RTFM, but I think the docs are
written for KDE 3.5, because there is no mention of Activities.
3. How do I turn Activities off?
