I have just setup a new PC with Debian testing on it and it has been
happily booting until this morning when it froze at bringing up the
network. I rebooted into recovery mode and I get a more details report
on the error as follows
r8169 0000:03:00.0 eth0: unable to loadfirmware patch
rtl-nic/rt18168e-3.fw (-2)
r8169 0000:03:00.0:9 eth0 link down
addrconf (netdev_up): eth0: link is not ready
r8169 0000:03:00.0: eth0 link is not ready
addrconf (netdev_up): eth0: link up
addrconf (netdev_change): eth0: link becomes ready
It then just sits there, as I said it has been happily booting up with
out a problem since first install on Friday and I have not seen any bug
warning related to the rt8169 packages since I installed the apt bug
check package
I have tried to get past the Configuring network interfaces error by
hashing out all lines in the etc/network/interfaces file (booted from a
live CD) but that has not helped, I have also tried disabling the
network interface on the PC which did not help. If I could at least get
the PC to boot up to the desktop it would help.
Any suggestion?
