Hello,

I am NOT an expert, but I too am facing cross-platform compatibility problems. Have you tried re-formatting to ExtFAT? I am currently setting up file storage which has to be accessible by Linux, XP,and Win7/8, and MAC and this 'seems' to offer an all-round-compatibility answer.

Originally designed by Microsoft for use with memory cards, ExtFAT (also known as exFAT) can be read by a wide range of OS including all the above and MAC from OS10x onward. It is free of FAT32 constraints and can cope with large files sizes and very large capacity drives.

Drivers for XP(SP3) and Linux can be downloaded.
