A couple more I forgot... D.J. Bernstein's netstrings and an extension of them by Zed Shaw, tagged netstrings, that allows the same nested data structures as JSON to be encoded. http://cr.yp.to/proto/netstrings.txt http://tnetstrings.org/ IMHO it's a shame the latter go for `true' and `false' for Booleans, and the Python `reference implementation' laxly takes anything other than `true' to be false.
