Hi Peter
You might try 'PlayonLinux' which although mostly a games installer,
uses Wine and installs to a virtual disc. I've found that worked for
me with a windows program that didn't want to install correctly
directly under Wine.
It should be in the Ubuntu synaptics repos, though mine was found in
the Mint 13 software installer (cos thats built on the Ubuntu base).
Under the File>Install item there is a list of all the apps and games
etc that PlayonLinux can install but there is a small link under the
list box that allow unlisted software to be installed. Hope this is
useful and helps.

Hi, I have just installed wine 1.4.1 onto my Kubuntu system 12.10 and
then installed my genealogy program in wine, and it has a problem. I
can start Brothers keeper, and navigate around the menus and the
data, but the moment I edit some data, it hangs, I cannot leave that
screen, and I cannot close the program. I have to kill it from the
terminal. I notice that BK is using 74% of the cpu and wine another 44%.
To test it I then installed Irfanview under wine and that works fine.
Any suggestions please?
Thanks,
Peter
Thanks Gemma, I was just about to dig out another computer and replace
Windows 8 by Kubuntu and do waht you said, but it is now sorted.
I added it as a bug on wineHQ and was advised to try wine 1.5.26
(Developmental), and it all works nicely now.
Thanks all for your advice.
