The Hebrides is pretty peaceful and tranquil, but only if you are not working long hours seven days a week, which was also the reality for me. I spent nearly 5 weeks on the island of St Kilda (see http://www.kilda.org.uk/), where there is an extremely large Puffin colony, but never had time to go to see them. I did get attacked by a 'bonxie' (Great Skua), when trying to walk past it's nest though! Later I did get to visit the RSPB reserve on North Uist when I had a free Sunday, but no Puffins there ;-( > And consider this, those of us who travel a lot for a living are glad > to get back home!
