I've had a disk drive die on me (A Seagate Barracuda 1Tb). It looks like it's a PCB fail rather than anything mechanical. I'm aware of various "data recovery" firms who will happily charge £400 to sort out a drive like this. But maybe there is someone in the area who will tackle this sort of thing on a low priority basis for less than ransom money? If anyone knows of anyone capable I'd be grateful for recommendations.
