I installed the 64 bit version OK on a spare 20GB HD. The whole purpose, aside from wanting to have a look, is to find a replacement OS for my wife's XP computer when XP finally gives up the ghost.

Initial findings, taking aside that the old 20GB HD is probably slower than the newer 160 GB HD in the computer running Kubuntu.
 - It takes longer to boot and shutdown than Kubuntu 14.04.
- It may have a start menu, but it is different and finding the 'Off' key is not as obvious as it is in XP Classic start menu. - There is a box on the start menu, but is is not obvious that it is the 'run' box as in XP. I ran 'cmd' from there, and it brought up the usual box. 'Ls' doesn't work, but 'dir' does! - I installed Libreoffice OK, and that works. - But not as fast as in Kubuntu.
- Not easy to change the desktop to a plain colour.

At this point I can't see She Who Must Be Obeyed being happy with it. I think I need to persuade her that a Linux system is Mainstream enough for her. If I get bored I'll swap HD's again and have another play.
