The only fix that I'm aware of is to upgrade to 17.01. Updating is now handled
by the 'Discover' Software Centre which still has no useful settings.
That's funny because it exists on my 'upstairs' system and works, even
if it cannot count. At least I know when Updates are available. But on
the 'Downstairs' system built with the same DVD the menu item for
software-updater isn't there. Odd. I must check and see if the software
exists.
