Hi,

Our normal two spots where already bagged last night, so we sat in the
raised area at the front with the window overlooking the Co-op.

Then this happened. :-)

There were initially lots of unmarked police cars with plain-clothes
police armed with carbines. About eight, though hard to tell because
they just wouldn't stay still, and all looked the same in jeans and
T-shirts, and balaclavas. Then around the periphery of the scene were
many police cars and uniformed armed police, again with balaclavas. And
beyond them all the traffic heading for the roundabout came to a
standstill.

After a while, the man put on the floor was moved to sit on the road
with his back against a police-car's wheel. Some time later, he was
stretchered, conscious, into an ambulance. The plain-clothes police
disappeared pretty quick after that. The armed uniformed police were
still there with the area cordoned off almost three hours later when we
left, having to turn right out of the pub because the cordon ended at
its entrance.

Kevin Sherwood gets a mention in one of those articles. The shot man we
saw was 50-something and overweight and that could describe Kevin senior
