Amatuer. I've got technical books from 1978 on my shelf, acquired new for use not something I've picked up later for historic interest. Referred to a couple of the Z80 programming ones just last year. Also have two early editions of K&R, had to buy a second when I misplaced the first.
As for getting rid of some of them. I've had no luck with charity shops or computing clubs etc. My "The Art of Computer Programming" went in the bin, yet I see the 2011 box set now retails for over a hundred, I should have held on to them. Anybody want a set of X-Windows programming manuals ? Eight volumes 1-7 (6 was in two parts) plus several suppliments. Hah just spotted "Best of Byte Vol 1" (1977) I'm keeping that one.
