Interesting about how Andrew combined two hard disks into one virtual
one. What program did you use to search for duplicates in that lot.
The answer you probably want is fslint.
The real answer is I haven't finished downloading all the files yet so
haven't done it yet, also I want to find duplicates in that 3 TB of
files, plus another location on another computer, so I might write a
little program to do that by collecting filenames, checksums, file
sizes, etc. in each location and then processing the results afterwards.
For anyone who wasn't there, I wanted about 3 TB of space to download
some files to check for duplicates. I had 1 TB and 2 TB hard disks and
used btrfs to combine them. I created an array using 'raid0' mode, which
was apparently the wrong thing to do. Once it reached 2 TB the array got
mounted read-only and said it had no more free space, even though until
then it had 1 TB free. I had to rebalance it and convert from 'raid0' to
'single', which it did with the filesystem mounted, and then I got a
full 3 TB of usable (and very much not redundant) space.
