Hi Clive, > Also on close down 3 files listed again prior to switch off.
Could it be they're on the first virtual terminal, VT1, which is used for console messages whereas you're normally sat on VT7 for the graphical interface? As part of shutting down, graphics are stopped, and you might be being fleetingly switched to VT1. When logged in, try typing Ctrl-Alt-F1 to switch to VT1. If that works, you'll need to type Ctrl-F7 to return to your log in. Note, no Alt that time. Run ‘who’ beforehand at the shell to check it's ‘tty7’ you're logged in on just in case your distro does it differently. $ who ralph tty7 2024-11-21 11:19 (:0) $ -- Cheers, Ralph. -- Next meeting: Online, Jitsi, Tuesday, 2024-12-03 20:00 Check to whom you are replying Meetings, mailing list, IRC, ... https://dorset.lug.org.uk New thread, don't hijack: mailto:dorset@mailman.lug.org.uk
