Hi,

Back in 2022, Hamish and Patrick created Virtual Box VMs to simulate all of the Pis in the Wimborne Model Town River System Network.  At the time there was a problem with creating host-only adapters, in that the only IP Address allowed for the adapter was/is 192.168.56.0/24, so there was a work round for this which involved creating a file /etc/vbox/networks.conf and populating it with the IP range required.  However, since then Kubuntu (and Ubuntu) have changed their networking configuration to be based on netplan and Network Manager and (I gather), that file is no longer read.

The Virtual Box docs are currently out of date and still refer to the above method to overcome this and the only information that i have found appears to be a number of YouTube Videos that describe how to use netplan to set up networking on a Ubuntu host to a Ubuntu Server VM.  The makers of these videos appear to assume a lot of foreknowledge of Linux networking, netplan and VBox, so I've struggled to find out what needs to be done for our use case (11 Raspberry Pi VMs, supported by a Raspberry Pi Base image).

Can anyone point me to a more relevant source of information?
