I have ordered the one from Argos as suggested by Bob Dunlop. It gets good
reviews and as I am not on it all day, just for a few minutes at a time and
occasionally a bit longer. I saw the state of the old carpet that was removed.
It had turned to dust under the top cover. Also Argos is local if there is any
problem.
Cheers all.

Hi Peter,
Can anybody suggest where I can get a carpet mat for my computer chair
locally. I don't want a soft one. The best that I have found so far
is a Polycarbonate one from Viking-direct. Now that I have a new
carpet the chair doesn't roll well.
I used to use an office chair on five pedestal wheels on carpet for
years, and then for some reason I've forgotten, I switched to a normal,
four-legged, upright chair. Like a dining chair.
I've grown to prefer it given I'm no longer in an office where I want to
spin around to others, or roll along to the second desk with its
different computer. I suspect it might be that bit better for long-term
posture too, though I keep eyeing up a standing desk. Especially as
their footprint can be quite small, and smaller still overall since no
chair required. For example,

Once you notice, quite a few podcast hosts are moving around as if
they're standing rather than sitting. Constantly adjusting their
weight, and stance.
