Hi, There's a few audiosnobphiles on the list; not me, but even so I found this interesting. It's a plugin for Omarchy Linux which plays sounds through the laptop's speakers, listens with the laptop's microphone, or a better one if available, then calibrates a new pulseaudio filter to compensate for the speakers' flaws.
This README explains more, and there's pictures. Interesting even if you can't run the plugin. https://github.com/thefreshoffice/omarchy-speaker-calibrator?tab=readme-ov-file Apparently, Apple's laptops' speakers' sound is a notch above the rest because Apple measure the speakers and tune the DSP. So claims https://x.com/MichaeldeBy/status/2100276763368493367 which is where I learnt of the plugin. -- Cheers, Ralph. -- Next meeting: Online, Jitsi, Tuesday, 2026-10-06 20:00 Check to whom you are replying Meetings, mailing list, IRC, ... https://dorset.lug.org.uk New thread, don't hijack: mailto:[email protected]
