Yes, I noticed that too, but Win4Lin Home was just a home-use version of
their full Win4Lin product. I think those citations are incorrect. I
have never seen a Wine-like version of Merge.
Indeed it's unknown how much documentation they had through WISE.

You're right, it's not likely it could immediately benefit any free
software.

Thanks I just tried this with DOSEMU and the earliest Chicago builds.
They both fail with:
KERNEL: Unable to initialize heap

I had the same error with hdpmi16 in QEMU when I used a Chicago version
which did not have a mismatch with its DOS version.
