Let me know if you are interested Located: Herndon, VA Duration: Contract to hire after 6 months Bill-Rate: $ /hr inc. all on C2C * * *Systems Test Engineers * *Summary: * Develops, implements, and coordinates product assurance program to prevent or eliminate defects in new or existing products by performing the following duties. Perform system test functions regarding the testing of an IP based satellite communications system. The job entails working within a department comprised of system test engineers where team members perform the functional, regression, and or performance testing of the product. The work also includes testing and administering the system through a GUI based network management system. In performing these tasks, the test team works closely with the hardware and software development team, interacts with an off-shore partner that helps support software development and testing, and interacts with various teams regarding the support of systems deployed in the field. Other duties as assigned *Qualifications* Education: BA/BS from accredited four-year college or university in Computer Science or closely related field. Experience: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have a minimum of 1 - 5 years experience in the following: Technical Skills – The individual should be familiar with the testing of IP based products regarding Layer 2 and Layer 3 applications and also familiar with testing client-server applications running on Linux based machines. The IP related work may involve testing and or investigating matters regarding routing and its associated protocols (*BGP, RIP, and or OSPF)*, switch connectivity,* VLANs,* and or VoIP applications. In addition, being very familiar with perl, database operation, linux scripting, and or RF / satellite technology is a plus. The tools used as part of the job include Test Director for test case management, Bugzilla for defect tracking, Spirent and/or Ixia traffic generators for IP based traffic, WinRunner, LoadRunner, and TCL/TK regarding automation. Additional Skills - The individual should have strong communications skills and also be a team player. The SQA skills desired include experience in developing system test plans, assisting in project planning, defect management, experience with SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle), and or quality management skills regarding CMM, Six Sigma or related methodologies.
