Location: Dallas, TX Duration: 9+ months. * Formal Job Description: The C Developer will assist the data warehouse team by writing libraries and utilities. These libraries and utilities will play a role in processing changed data originating from an Oracle database. Large amounts of data will be processed on a daily basis, which requires the C programs to perform very efficiently. Familiarity with techniques used to optimize C programs including multiple threads especially in the area of file writing is required. Primary interfaces of this position will be with project manager, architects, DBA’s, and quality assurance testers. Qualifications: BA or BS in Computer Information Sciences or equivalent work experience. At least 5 years of experience writing software with the C programming language. Detailed technical knowledge of GNU Compiler Collection (GCC). Experience writing multi-threaded C programs is required. General technical knowledge of Suse Linux and IBM AIX operating systems. General working knowledge of Oracle database would be a plus. Work in a team environment to coordinate, organize and track multiple tasks effectively and meet project deadlines. Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with staff of varying technical expertise. Description of Duties: Establish and conform to style and coding standards. Track programming changes using a source control tool. Analyze functional requirements and formulate logic for new system. Assist with establishing input and output file interfaces including naming conventions of these interfaces. Code, maintain, test, debug, and document programs needed in support of the new system. Participate in performance testing to ensure scalability of programs. Prepare documentation of programs including prerequisites, dependencies, makefiles, logic flows, inputs, outputs, and compilation instructions. Provide technical assistance to quality assurance testers when required during the execution of test cases. Resolve defects identified by quality assurance testers. Work independently to track outstanding tasks, monitor progress, plan workload and dependencies, and provide daily status of activities required to meet project goals.
