Position : Openlink Developer Location; Houston, TX Length: 2.2011 Rate: $48/hr An intermediate Open link developer should be proficient in developing technical programs around Openlink products such as Endur, gMotion, and Connex. Candidates should be able to write basic and intermediate technical specifications and develop programs from provided technical specifications. In addition, candidates should have troubleshooting skills to find and correct defects in new or existing programs. Candidates should be familiar with interface techniques into and out of Openlink products. Candidates experience must be within two Openlink releases current to Shell. Candidates must be able to adhere to provided coding and documentation standards and work with limited supervision. In addition, candidates must be able to provide assistance and basic mentoring to colleagues. "* Proficient in AVS / JVS and Open Components * Knowledge of SQL and Oracle database environments * Proficient in at least one other programming language such as .Net, C, or Java * Ability to perform unit and system testing of programs and products * Experience with interface techniques and strategies into and out of Openlink products (Endur, gMotion, pMotion) * Experience with reporting tools, such as Crystal Reports or Business Objects * Ability to create in-code documentation according to provided standards * Ability to create technical documentation related to developed work product * Prior experience in other trading environments, either commodity or financial * Good communication skills " Job Description: Provide level 1 through level 3 support for plants and power systems used by SENA’s short-term power trading desks in North America. Provide development activities to meet small enhancement demands and bug fixes. Coordinate with infrastructure groups to facilitate upgrades, patches, and maintenance outages. Assess impact of market changes and action appropriate system enhancements/configurations to maintain system functionality. Consult with business users to provide IT perspectives on requests Skills: Must have prior experience in supporting nMarket application suite. Must have prior experience in supporting trading activities in one of the following markets (ERCOT, PJM, CAISO, IESO). Considerable IT applications, development, or support experience with ability to diagnose and solve applications problems in support of business critical applications. Considerable experience with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Access) Experience with SQL (Oracle, MS SQL) Experience with web technologies (ASP, HTMP, XML/XSLT) Experience with programming languages (.NET, JAVA, VB) Prior experience with systems interfacing with power market operators (ISO) a plus. Familiarity with power trading, scheduling, or settlement a plus. Role Accountability: Administer and support applications in the team portfolio (nMarket, UPLAN, PROMOD, Aurora) Assists in level 1 support activities for plant sytem applications (Monarch EMS, PlantViewer, Plant Systems Real-Time Applets, Henwood) Track and prioritize system issues and enhancements. Participate in development life cycles for custom applications, interfaces, and reports for vendor-based systems and other custom developed systems. Participate in development life cycles for custom applications, interfaces, and reports against various ISO. Action system maintenance activities and coordinate resources to resolve outstanding issues and enhancements. Keep current on Group’s standards such as ISIP and SOX. Ensure systems are compliant with applicable standards. Work with various infrastructure groups such as Wintel, network, telecom, DB, and middleware to resolve system issues and to plan for high availability and disaster recovery/business continuity. Keep current on regulatory activities in participating NERC regions (ERCOT, PJM, IESO, CAISO, SPP, MISO, NY-ISO, ISO-NE). Participate in rotation of 24x7 support schedule.
