Position : Business objects
Duration: 6 months
Location: Herndon , Va.
DESCRIPTION
The individual in this position will work on Fannie Mae's implementation of
certain programs under the U.S. Department of the Treasury's ("Treasury")
Making Home Affordable initiative. U.S. citizenship or permanent residency
status is required by Treasury for such individual, as is execution of a
nondisclosure agreement and compliance with other Fannie Mae requirements
per Treasury's guidelines.
Code, test, and debug new software and make enhancements to existing
software and systems to render their use more efficient. Using
knowledge of systems
engineering or computer programming, troubleshoot existing systems and
streamline their operation. Maintain, patch, and program operating systems
to allow applications running on them to function efficiently. May document
standard operation of a system or technical measures taken or recommended to
improve a system’s functionalities.
Monitor operations of a network or an environment of servers on which a
cluster of specific applications operate. Track and research business
solutions running in this environment in terms of efficient performance or
obstacles to smooth production.
Troubleshoot difficult or complex production slowdowns or bottlenecks and
determine what is causing the problem.
Document measures taken to patch or upgrade the system and testing done to
ensure continued smooth production.
Maintain or perform system upgrades, including installing up to date patches
and service packs. Serve on or help lead larger projects involving team
resources as a key technical resource.
May control or manage system access; train and support users and fellow team
members.
Support system users, responding with limits of the 24/7 systems service
level agreement. This includes device and configuration monitoring and
support requests from users.
May provide work guidance or technical assistance to less senior staff.
May provide support for other areas of infrastructure.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
Required: BA/BS
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
• Four or more years experience supporting versions of Business
Objectsand Crystal
Enterprise
• Six or more years of industry experience
• Two or more years of Microsoft Windows and virtualization
• Recent experience with Business Objects XI R3 and R2 to possess a solid
understanding and working knowledge of the following tools and technologies:
o Business Objects administration to include installation, configuring,
patching, and user support
o The Central Management Console and the Central Configuration Manger
o Web Intelligence, Import Wizard and BIAR files
o Designer
o LDAP groups and role based security
o Single Sign On and Siteminder
o Administration of web servers to include IIS, Tomcat, and BEA Weblogic9.x.
o Auditor and the Business Objects Activity Universe
o BO Clustering
o BO performance tuning , troubleshooting, and system scaling
• Oracle 10g and SQL
• Experience with end user coaching and documentation
• Excellent verbal communications and teaming skills
• Must be prepared to carry a pager and support during occasional
off-hours
NICE to HAVE SKILLS
• Familiarity of Business Objects SDKs and JAVA or .net development
• Experience developing WEBI reports and Universes
• Experience with UNIX and shell scripting
• Familiarity with Autosys
