*Position: DATABASE ARCHITECT* *Location: MADISON, Wisconsin* *Duration:9 months.* * * * Job description:* This Geographical Information Systems (GIS) Analyst position is expected to have 6+ years of work experience in GIS. The selected candidate is expected to perform the following tasks on a recurring basis. Geocoding, Map creation, Data Layer creation, generate Map Templates and Layer files, create GIS Standards, provide GIS training/support, and assist in GIS Sharepoint Integration at DHS. These tasks are further defined below. Geocoding includes - capture customer business needs, capture customer business needs, review input data, manipulate data for proper structure, execute geocoding process, QA/QC output data, generate spatial data layers, communicate with customer, work with Excel, Access, SQL Server and Oracle RDBMS. Map creation includes - capture customer business needs, review customer data, manipulate data for proper structure, join data, QA/QC joined data, generate spatial layer(s), symbolize layer(s), create map, communicate with customer, provide ongoing map support. Data Layer creation includes - capture customer business needs, create layer prototype, test with customer, edit layer as necessary, migrate to production, store layer in Spatial Data Layer Repository, support spatial data layer. Generate Map Templates and Layer files includes - create pre-symbolized and standardized layer files, create map templates using layer files for use by all ArcGIS users, maintain layer files and map templates. Create GIS Standards includes - work with DET/GIO to generate data layer and map standards (naming, symbology, etc.), create web mapping standards, create data use standards, create metadata standards. Provide GIS training/support includes - create "How-To" documentation for common tasks (aka step by step instructions), generate screen casts and training videos to disseminate for all user levels, work with the DHS Technical Learning Center to deliver content. Assist in GIS Sharepoint Integration includes - create and manage Sharepoint site to disseminate layer files, map templates, how to documents, training videos, other GIS related content, and WebParts for Sharepoint (GIS functionality embedded in Sharepoint). In addition the position relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals, independently perform a variety of the above complicated tasks with limited direction provided by DHS and is provided a some degree of creativity and latitude.
