*Senior Database Engineer*

*Purpose:*

Senior Database Engineers is responsible for the analysis, definition,
design, construction, testing, installation and modification of properly
engineered information systems, containing software as the major component,
to meet agreed business needs.   The candidate will work on, but not limited
to, the Thomson Reuters Messenger and Administrative products.   This
position will have a focus on database design and development on Microsoft
SQL Server 2005 and 2008.

*Scope and Impact:*

§                   Works on medium and large complex database projects that
are enterprise wide and require the highest level of expertise and multiple
technical disciplines.

§                   Work involves leading and mentoring and code reviewing
other developers (may be onshore or offshore)

§                   Contribute key technical expertise, potentially global,
which may have a direct material impact on Reuters reputation, and products.

§                   Working with on-shore and off-shore development, test
and operations staff

§                   Accountable for a team's results, or for a project, and
takes responsibility for the quality of work delivered. Ability to set
timeframes and schedules to meet customer and business needs.

§                   Providing design recommendations, developing and
integrating programs per written specifications.  Responsible for writing
moderate to complex design specifications.

§                   Translating business and technical requirements
into detailed
design specifications for application code and modules.

§                    Developing software application modules using
disciplined software development processes.

§                   Provides assistance in researching new and emerging
technologies.  Evaluating new tools, technologies and platforms to be
included.



*Professional Requirements:*

§                   Minimum of 7 years development experience.
Experienceshould include architecture and design responsibilities

§                   6+ years of overall IT database experience

§                   At least 2+ years of data migration experience, data
quality assessment, data cleansing, loading and validation

§                   Requires in-depth experience and understanding of
Microsoft SQL Server 2005 and 2008 databases

§                   Understanding of database architecture, design,
development and administration on Microsoft SQL Server / Windows platform.

§                   Hands on experience with designing scalability database
solutions and performance improvements

§                   Experienced in Data Modeling, logical and physical
database design, performance tuning of existing database applications and
design of Backup and Recovery procedures.

§                   Has developed DTS packages and scheduled database tasks.


§                   Good understanding of Windows Server 2003 and
2008.  Microsoft
Windows and SQL Server Clustering is a plus.

§                   Working experience in RDBMS (e.g. Oracle, SQL Server) is
required

§                   Engaged in innovative concepts and programming
techniques on how to develop high quality software and still maintaining
shorter time to market (e.g. Agile and Extreme Programming (XP)).

§                   Some Siebel knowledge a plus

§                   Experience working with IIS suite (IBM Information
server, data stage, quality stage, profile stage components) on data
migration / data warehousing projects.

§                   Very Focused and Challenged

§                   Strong Communication Skills.

§                   Experience in.NET <http://in.net/> programming
languagesin .NET such as C# and
VB.NET <http://vb.net/> is a plus.

*Education requirement: *

§                   Computer Science degree preferred. If candidate has
other type of degree but has experience this ok.
