Job Title: Network Engineer

Location: Nutley, NJ

Duration: 3+ Months

Position requires a rotating shift of 4 days on and 4 days off. 11.5 hour
days: Summer 9 AM-9:30PM 8 AM - 8:30 PM Winter



Job Purpose:

Implementation and second level support of open system architectures.

This includes problem management, strong networking skills utilizing all
internetworking standards and possible client interactions.

Scope: -

Works in a team environment- Provide implementation analysis and
documentation for operational deployment.-

Can independently research necessary requirements and technologies for
implementation of open systems.-

Technical writing required.- 5 Day work week.- 24x7

- Some internal client communications

Essential Job Responsibilities:-

• Ability to independently analyze and solve technical problems involving
industry standard operating systems, LANs/WANs, protocols and interfaces;
specifically, this requires the ability to assess, research, and propose
solutions to technical problems.-

• Ability to assimilate and apply new technologies through independent
research.

• Strong communications, organizational, and the ability to work without
close supervision required-

• Ability to build and configure standard web services such as Iplanet,
LDAP, FTP etc.-

• In-depth knowledge of computer hardware diagnostics and repair procedures
including the ability to independently correct hardware problems involving
Sun Microsystems andi86 based hardware.-

• In-depth knowledge in Unix (V) system administration, Bourne, C and K
shells programming-

• Expert level of knowledge and application of TCP/IP. Should also be
familiar with SNMP, IP routing and routing protocols, IP Subnetting , ARP,
ICMP, and common TCP network

• programs such SSH,DNS and SMTP,.-

• Working knowledge of networking and system administration fundamentals in
a heterogeneous architecture.- Responsible for implementation and day-to-day
second level support for distribution systems.-

• Assist in analysis of system usage patterns to

• proactively determine new capacity requirements.- Test and approve new

• revisions of software and hardware in a test bed environment to ensure
that future upgrades do not have adverse effects on any production systems-
Fully understands security standards and has administered systems that
contain a secure rule base.- Strong understanding, management and
configuration of network equipment such as CISCO/Extreme/Nortel.- Researches
network admin operating system patches and schedules their implementation-
Manages Moves, Adds and Changes (MAC) activities and associated
tracking/management systems maintenance- Understanding of SAN

• technologies.

Qualifications:-

• BSEE or BSCS or equivalent work experience preferred.-

• Minimum 4 years of network administration experience including firewall
management, DNS, NIS, and SMTP administration-

• Minimum 4 years of exposure and measurable knowledge of Windows, Solaris,

• UNIX or Linux-

• Minimum 2 year exposure of various network technologies such as FTP, SMTP
Messaging, Cisco/Extreme/Nortel switches/routers
