*JOB DESCRIPTION:* 
Responsible for the elicitation, analysis, and documentation of business 
and technical needs 
Works independently with minimal direction 
May guide, coordinate and plan the work of business analysts assigned to 
projects they are leading via the creation of a requirements plan 
Creates a work breakdown structure and a comprehensive status report for 
the business analysis portion of the project and provides to the project 
manager 
 Builds relationships and works with business partners and business 
stakeholders across the organization. Acts as a liaison between the 
business and IT. 
Analyzes business problems and develops recommendations to solve. 
May work on RFIs and RFPs 
 

*EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:* 
Bachelors degree or equivalent experience 
4-8 years of experience as a business analyst or business consultant 
Preferred Business Analyst certification 
 
*EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:* 
FLMI 
Formal training in business analysis with IIBA preferred vendor 
Strong understanding of the life insurance and annuity industry and the 
internal challenges we face 
Strong knowledge of company vision, mission, and strategic objectives 
Skilled at creative thinking, decision analysis, problem solving and 
systems thinking 
Must be able to demonstrate experience in identifying, researching, 
quantifying and developing logical and creative solutions to problems 
Proven knowledge and application of a variety of business analysis concepts 
and techniques. Examples include requirement plans, process modeling, 
context diagramming, entity relationship modeling, use cases, user stories, 
prototyping, etc. 
Solid understanding of various *SDLC methods; waterfall, agile, RUP* etc) 
Strong communication skills. (Chooses appropriate method, tailors to 
audience, provides facts, removes emotion, and achieves intended purpose) 
Strong facilitation skills (Meetings are well organized, stay on task and 
have clear objectives that are met. Asks the right questions and ensures 
necessary participation, reframes and redirects as appropriate.) 
Strong leadership skills 
Skilled at managing and addressing conflict 
Skilled at negotiation and motivation 
Embraces changes and assists in guiding others through change 
Builds and fosters relationships with key contacts throughout the 
organization 
Works effectively with all levels of the organization, including executive 
leadership and regional leadership 
Works effectively with outside consultants and vendors 
Able to influence without formal authority 
Networks with peers
