*INTRODUCTION* The Governor’s Office of Information Technology (OIT) is seeking qualified IT Hardware/Software Technicians for assistance in upgrading approximately 2000 desktop and laptop computers from Windows XP to Windows 7. *BACKGROUND* Due to the large number of computers that need to be upgraded from Windows XP to Windows 7 and due to an aggressive deadline for completion, the Deskside Service Support team is unable to complete the proposed work within the desired time line and provide the day to day Desk Side support required by the Department of Corrections. *PURPOSE* These contractors will be responsible for assisting DOC Desk Side Support staff in the upgrade of approximately 2000 desktop and laptop computers located at DOC facilities throughout the state of Colorado. Level expereince Skills Communication Skills Must have the ability to express technical matters both verbally and in writing in a manner which is understandable to personnel who may not have a technical background in information technology Advanced 3-4 yrs Skills Customer Service Must have excellent customer service skills Advanced 3-4 yrs Skills Deadline Adherence Ability to work under pressure with project deadlines Advanced 3-4 yrs Skills Desktop Config & Mgmt Knowledge and skills setting up, deploying, and managing desktops and laptops in an infrastructure of a local area network Advanced 3-4 yrs Skills Hard Drive installation Must have experience in exchanging hard drives in both desktop and laptop computers Advanced 3-4 yrs Skills Microsoft Windows Experience using and supporting MS Windows desktop OS (Windows XP, Windows 7 64-bit, and Microsoft Office Professional 2010/13 Advanced 3-4 yrs Skills Multi-tasking Experience working with, and managing multiple priorities and tasks with follow-through Advanced 3-4 yrs Skills Organizational Skills Must organize own time effectively to achieve on-going and special project requirements with minimal supervision Advanced 3-4 yrs Skills Peripherals installation Must have experience in connecting and configuring peripheral hardware to computers Advanced 3-4 yrs Skills Physical strength Must be able to occasionally lift and move equipment up to 30 pounds.
