*Sr Linux Systems Administrator*
*Columbia, MD*
*Duration: 6** Months contract to hire*

*Responsibilities*
- Day to day administration of Operating Systems and Subsystems software
to ensure peak efficiency and reliability. Superior troubleshooting
capabilities to diagnose and resolve problem. Ensure proper procedures
are followed to introduce changes and fixes into the operating environment
in order to ensure the lowest possible error rate. Proactively monitors
software maintenance levels to ensure optimization and corrective fixes are
applied.
- Research and Development: Researches and develops ways to exploit new
technologies to benefit the business.
- Procedural: Develops, updates, and maintains operations manuals,
inventories, and written procedures relative to installing, maintaining,
and using Operating Systems and subsystems software.
- Technology Consulting: Provide technical assistant to all customers;
Operations, Help Desk, and Application Programming areas to leverage
technology and resolve problems.
- Project Management: Provides project management regarding all
technical aspects of implementing projects/major release upgrades, which
includes: properly following a project life cycle, the development and
maintenance of project plans, all appropriate documentation and
notifications are completed in order to obtain resolution within the
established timeframes.
- Education: Educates self and peers in new and changing technologies.
*Required Skills*
- 4-5+ years of experience with AIX, Redhat, and VMware
- Good knowledge of AIX
- Expert level experience with Redhat and VMware
- Redhat and VMware Certification are highly preferred
- Might be willing to consider someone without the certification
if experience is extensive, however those with the
certifications will be
given preference
*Preferred Skills/Experience*
- Prior Migration experience is a nice to have, but not required at this
point
- Disaster Recovery Support is part of this groups responsibilities
- Very nice to have this experience coming in
- There are separate teams for the Storage and Application Support
- Experience with these would be preferred, but will not be a primary
responsibility
- Certifications
- Redhat and VMware (May consider experience over the certs, but this
is highly preferred)
- AIX would be nice to have, but not required
- Willing to teach on the following, but would be nice to have coming in
- Storage
- Understanding and experience with Disk Storage systems from EMC
and IBM
- Application Support
- Some experience supporting UNIX OS level applications; TSM,
Oracle RAC, WebSphere, MQSeries, Tibco, and IBM DB2 database
- Disaster Recovery Support
- Experience planning and conducting Disaster Recovery exercises
along with their documentation methodologies
