Senior Storage Engineer required VA, fennmay The consultant in this role is responsible for architecting and supporting the mission critical SAN environments that support all of the Open Systems applications hosted in all ITS data centers. This consultant must have extensive experience with EMC VMAX, VNX, VPLEX, and RPA storage solutions as well as IBM DS8000 storage, IBM SVC storage virtualization. This individual leads the technical group supporting SAN reporting to a State manager. • Manage Daily Operations; this includes, but is not limited to the following: fulfillment of SAN requests including disk allocations, de-allocations, disk modifications, copy services, SAN zoning. • Problem Resolution: the candidate will be expected to troubleshoot and rectify any issues relating to the SAN environment. This will include the storage subsystems, SAN switch network, and any access components within the SAN. In many cases, this will require collaboration with vendor support, other Datacenter units, and customers. • Maintenance: the candidate will be responsible for applying required patching, software upgrades, and hardware replacements to various components within the SAN environment. In many instances, this work will require weekend and off-hour scheduling. • Consultation: the candidate will be required to provide technical assistance for formal Enterprise projects as well as informal requests regarding storage related considerations. • Documentation: Candidate will utilize existing systems for documentation and notification purposes regarding all work performed or planned. • Monitoring: Candidate must be familiar with existing management tools and know how to use these tools to identify and resolve problems as well as proactively monitor the environment. The candidate must also be able to use these tools to generate reports detailing the health of the environment, as well as for inventory and capacity planning purposes. • Off-Hour Responsibility: Candidate will be required, using a weekly rotating schedule, to be the SAN team point-of-contact and primary resolver for all SAN related off-hour issues. In many instances, this requires a physical presence at one of the DC locations. • Work Environment: Candidate is expected to maintain good relationships and communication channels with executives, supervisor, staff and peers in addition to adhering to all State and Agency policies.
