On March 27th, Microsoft announced the availability of world-wide funding for academics wishing to make early use of the shared source ("Rotor") implementations of the Common Language Infrastructure (CLI) and C# programming language for teaching or research, and from academics wishing to actively promote the growth of a community of Rotor users. Microsoft is soliciting proposals from academics from around the world for these grants, which will be in the region of $10,000 to $20,000 each, for the period June 2002 - September 2003. The participants will be invited to two workshops, at our expense, where they will be able to discuss and resolve issues with members of the Rotor development team and where they can share experiences with other users of the Rotor code.
