I also tried using the imageList combo from Comctrl.dll and it has sleecion issues also. When you click with the mouse to change the insertion point it selects from the current selection point to where you clicked but doesn't change the insertion point. Seems to me this should have been one of the first things fixed in a service pack as it makes combo boxes unusable in DropDown mode.
