I have created an installer project in VS.NET. I added a couple of
shortcuts to the executable files, which are installed in a subdirectory
under the Application folder. I added these shortcuts in the User's
Programs menu. After I install the application and try to access these
shortcuts from the start menu-->programs, the installer starts again,
instead of the exe programs. It does it for whatever shortcut I select. I
know I am creating these shortcuts to point to the right exe files in the
project.
What's annoying is for some reason the installer starts to uninstall the
application, and when I click Cancel in between it goes into a weird mode.
I see the error box "Fatal error during installation. Problem with
shortcut". I tried to open these shortcut files in notepad, but I see
some binary junk.
Did anyone see a similar behavior? BTW, I installed the SP1 of the .NET
Framework. I am not sure if this started to happen after I upgraded, but I
haven't seen this before either.
