See the ".NET Data Access Architecture Guide" in MSDN:

http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/en-us/dnbda/html/daag.asp?frame=true

It discusses the various places you could store connection strings and tells
you what's good and bad about each. The chances are that you'll want to use
a .config file, but it's worth a look nonetheless.

Subject: [DOTNET] Storing ADO.NET Connection String Parameters

Is there an official Microsoft .NET way to store ADO.NET Connection
String parameters? If not, what do you recommend for storing connection
data for an ADO.NET data source? I would assume storing it in some XML
format.
